Forged in Ash Releases!
After a long, long, long wait, my second Red-Hot SEALs
romantic thriller (Forged in Ash) released on Tuesday.
I have to admit I was really worried about how well it would be received. There’s this rumored second book curse thing, you know? Where the second book is often a disappointment, if people loved the first book. So far, knock on wood, the reception has been fantastic. Reader feedback has been completely awesome. Everyone seems to love Ash as much as Fire. There has been a lot of questions coming in, though, so I thought I’d answer the most common of them here.

But first, several people have pointed out what they believed were formatting errors in some of the Arapaho words. This involved the number 3 mixed in with the letters of the word. This is not a formatting error. The Arapaho language uses the number 3 as a letter. So the words are spelled
correctly. I should
have written an author’s note to explain this.
Now for the most popular questions-
1/ Forged in Smoke, book three, will be Rawls’s story and it
will release on October 28th, 2014- nine months from now. Forged in
Ember, which is Mac and Amy’s story will release on Jan 28th, 2015.
2/ Ember will conclude this particular storyline and YES!! all
the threads will be tied up, and everything will be explained. This particular
four book set was conceived as an ongoing story arc, there is just too much
happening to conclude the storyline in one or two books.
3/ The next set of Red-Hot SEALs books will revolve around
Zane’s brothers. They will be romantic thrillers as well, but they will be standalone
books rather than a continuing storyline.
4/Yes, Mac and Amy will have their own HEA and yes, Amy
brings Mac to his knees. J
5/ Yes, Wolf and Jillian will have their own HEA, although
it will not take place in the Red-Hot SEALs series. While they will both show
up in Smoke and then again in Ember, they will spin off a new series featuring
Wolf’s mysterious and deadly Arapaho special ops team and their HEA will take
place during this new series. This series (as yet untitled) will launch April
of 2015.
6/ Yes, I still intend to release Yesterday’s Child, but
there has been some problems with that book’s structure and characterization
and I’m not completely happy with it and I won’t release anything I don’t think
is ready for prime time. However, I sent
it to another developmental editor and got some great feedback and
suggestions. I’m hoping to have it
revised and through copy edits by May, so it’s tentatively scheduled for a June
release.
7/Yes, Kait’s brother will have his own HEA. He’ll hook up
with Kait’s friend Demi.
8/ Yes, I am doing companion romance novella’s for each of
the Red-Hot SEAL books. Zane’s will come first and I’m hoping to have it available
in March.
9/ Yes, not only will Cosky’s mother show up more often through
the series, but she’ll have her own
novella and HEA.
10/ Yes, Forged in Ash will be available as an audio book sometime
in March.

ReplyDeleteWell you answered my question. I was wondering about Wolf and Jillian. Love Wolf's character.
ReplyDeleteThanks Frances, I'm really enjoying Wolf and Jillian too. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, happy days!!!
ReplyDeleteI am also on Train Wolf. :D
ReplyDeleteWolf is quickly building his own fan club. :)
ReplyDeleteI just wish I would have found the series a year from now so that I could have bought them all and read them at once. :-)
ReplyDeleteI can't say I blame you for wanting to wait to read them all at once. I know a ton of people who are doing just that. I'd probably do that myself if I was a reader and not the author of the series. :) I'm trying to pick up my speed, so I can get the books out more quickly. :)
DeleteMy 1st blog post. HAD to find a website for you bc I am an avid (eye issues w/readino novels) audio - Audible listener. It was impossible to find audio books that my husband & I BOTH liked (middle-aged literally) til I found Maya Banks' KGI series. Luckily I found it after at least 8 of the series were out bc I like ur other fan hate the wait. So I catch myself now waiting. Well I stumbled upon FIF thinking it was stand alone which I rarely read/listen & was thriled by the end (1-2d) it was a series & FIA was now on Audible so perfect timing!! I have 1 hr. Left then Ash will be over. :( BUT hopefully if Audible is as timely as usual the audio version will be out same day/very soon as print!
Delete--- So congratulations to you Trish for doing so well at what u love & for making us readers incl. My hubby so happy (although our Audible bill is nuts!).
--- Don't even know if you will get this post since it's so new but I hope so. Love ur pups. We have huskies. I wish Luna & Sawyer could help u write faster. Lol.
It's silly really, to novice readers, we think all u have to do is dictate what's in ur head, someone types & proofs it, u approve & Voila, tis done. Guess not. ;)
Stalled enough gotta go finish Ash then listen to FIF again while i wait for next.
Hey Ney,
DeleteThanks so much for your comment. I'm sorry I'm so late answering, I kind of forgot about this blog. lol, and I'm not getting email alerts when someone leaves a message--I guess I should look into that. :)
I'm so glad you enjoyed the audio versions of Fire and Ash, and that your husband enjoyed them as well. I'm not completely sure when Smoke will come out yet, but when it does it usually takes another month or two before the audio version comes out.
Luna and Sawyer are so old now they just want to sleep, they have no interest in being my muse- sadly. :)
btw- I love huskies. One of my favorite You Tube channels is Miska, the talking husky. She just cracks me up. Thanks for the post! Hope you have a great Halloween!
LOVED it!!! Just finished the audiobook (Wolf is a seriously hot character) and it was all I could have hoped for. The different gifts displayed by the characters add that little extra to the books, I think and It feels really long until October. Thank you for an excellent series!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, I'm thrilled you enjoyed Cosky and Kait's story. I hear you on October being so far away, it seems like that to me too. :( But then I think of how fast March passed and how quickly the first two weeks of April disappeared and I suspect it will be here before we realize it.
DeleteOMG I just finished the audiobook (I am a huge Luke Daniels fan! so thank you sooooo much for having him bring your baby to life in the audiobook world!). The team is in my mind and I am (after listening to book one) now listening to book two for the second time in a week. The second time is even sweeter. I love the team, they're all cool but I am totally absorbed by "Rawls" - I tell you it's going to be an extremely long haul to October to read(hear) his story... *heavy sigh* can't wait....
ReplyDeleteHi KP,
DeleteI'm so glad you're enjoying the audio books. I haven't actually listened to Ash in audio yet. I have the disk, I just haven't had time to listen. I've got a long trip coming up though and I plan to take the disk and listen then. Maybe it will make the drive pass quicker.
Rawls is certainly building his own little fan club. :) You'll be happy to hear his story is next.
Luke Daniels is FABULOUS. I usually much prefer female narrators but Luke doing FIA was better than FIF!!! His vocal range & distinction is amazing.
DeleteI am DYING! I needed a stress reliever because of standardized testing, I am the coordinator for my school). I found Forged in Fire and gobbled it up...the Forged in Ash. I usually wait and buy the series all at once and just stumbled upon these. THANK YOU for writing the series and continuing the novellas. I don't want to wait....but I will!!! Oh, I can't wait! Going back to reread.........

ReplyDeleteI'm dying. When is Forged In Smoke coming out? I click on links to preorder but there is nothing.
ReplyDeleteAny update on Forged in Smoke? Was so looking forward to the 28th release date on your blog, but no book! Please please let us know :)
ReplyDeleteForged in Smoke and Forged in Ember have been pushed back and I don't have any hard release dates on them yet. As soon as I do, I'll let everyone know. In the hopes of tiding the Red-Hot SEALs fans over, I'll be releasing a series of novellas on a regular basis. You can read about the first novella and get a look at the cover in the next post.
DeleteHi Trish, I am so frustrated as I can't seem to find, "Forged in Smoke", anywhere at all in Amazon. Can you please please pop a link up so I can continue reading as I'm hooked. However I know that I will forget to come back and look for the following books if I get caught up in another series or few series of books from yourself or other authors. I have read that people have been able to read, "Forged in Smoke". I have read people's reviews online but still can not find it!
ReplyDeleteThis is how I decide which books to read, by looking into if they are a series, so it is so disappointing to find that I can't read the rest of the series. I have seen reviews but no sign of the book, am I missing something? Please can you either post a link or something so that I may read the rest of your books. I'm really mega impressed with the first two in this series.
Hi Trish, please disregard the above comment I made. They are Not reviews, they are ratings on the book which hasn't been published and comments where the reviews should be. My mistake, they are talking about your previous books on an app called Goodread! They too are waiting for the release of the next two in the series.
ReplyDeleteCan I just ask please, will it affect any surprises that may be in the next two books if I read any of your other titles? I have pre ordered two for January and February and if they are connected to this series in any way, I don't want to spoil any surprises. Thanks for your time. Happy New Year.
Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your enjoying the Forged Series. :)
Yes, you're right. Smoke has been delayed until this summer, right now I have no hard and fast release date, so I can't give you and exact date. I just know it's supposed to be this summer.
The two books you preordered are actually novellas set in the Red-Hot SEALs world. They are short little books concentrating on the romance rather than the plot. They are each around 150 pages. The characters in them are side characters from Ash and Fire and I've made sure that the storylines will not give anything away that happens in Smoke or Ember. You can get these novellas for free though, by joining my newsletter. http://trishmccallan.com/contact.html#newsletter
The goal this year is to write one of these novellas each month, in between the bigger, more plot driven books. They will all be free to my newsletter list.
I'm actually going to cancel the preorder for Bound by Seduction today. I ran behind on it, so there won't be time to send it through the final rounds of copy editing and proofing before the release date. So I am going to cancel the release date and then just publish it once it's gone through all the editing stages and is as close to perfect as I can make it. It will still go up for sale- just later than I had originally expected. But again, you will get this novella for free, as well as sooner, by subscribing to my newsletter list.
Take care, and thanks for reading!
Hi Trish - a new devotee here from the UK. Absolutely loved Forged in Fire, shades of Mackenzie's Mission but loved the supernatural element. The chemistry between the two leads took my breath away - literally!! Just downloaded the next one and can't wait to start it. Thank you so much for sharing your gift for writing. Please keep it up, so glad I found you!! Rae MacPat
ReplyDeleteHi Trish. I have crazy over the last year checking to see when these next two books are going to be released. I do not mean any disrespect here but Iwrite in my spare time. I don't have the huge following you have but I can n tell you if your have issues with publishing do what I do. I sell my stories directly to the customers. On line only. You talk about a lot of gray areas when they will be then possibly be released yet nothing is happening. As iI see it you are cranking them out but something is in the way. So I say work around the issues. Your fans don't give 2 crap if a hot & sexy guy is on a cover. They want the story finished & not left in limbo. It drives us bat shit crazy. So don't lose your fans eventually evening I will get tired of looking. I don't work so iIhave the time to waste looking.
